Lauren

Hi, my name is Lauren Chan and I am a  4th year BMOS student with a specialization in Accounting. Since my first year at Western, I’ve had the privilege of being involved with AAW and can confidently say that this has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my undergraduate degree.  I am extremely grateful to AAW for giving me a platform where I could continue my work in promoting awareness while connecting with like-minded people. Now that I am in my last year  I am especially excited to be in a position to hopefully inspire incoming executives while leading our team, alongside Emma, toward creating a more inclusive environment for individuals on the spectrum.

Mariam

Hi my name is Mariam and I am a 4th year Kinesiology and Rehabilitation Science student. This is my third year on the AAW team, starting as an events executive in 2017. This club has been one of my favourite university memories that I will cherish and each person in the club has impacted my life greatly. Here at AAW, we treat each other with kindness and respect, making me so proud to be with such an amazing group of people.

VP Advocacy

Elim

Hi my name is Elim and I am a third year biology student doing honor specialization in genetics. I joined this club in my first year since I was interested in learning more about ASD and neurodiversity. This club has been one of my highlights in the past two years of school and I really enjoyed working alongside our incredible team. I am thrilled about the new school year and hope to continue advocating and encouraging more people to join us in our efforts.

Emma

Hi everyone! My name is Emma and I am a 4th year BMSc honours student doing my thesis in Physiology & Pharmacology. I’ve had the pleasure of being a part of the AAW team since my 1st year. Having made long-lasting friendships with my fellow club members and warm connections with families in London, I am thrilled to be leading AAW alongside Lauren. I look forward to recruiting new members and I am super excited to see how AAW will grow this year as we strive for autism acceptance in our communities.

Kierra

It’s Kierra here! I am in my second year of FIMS and I am absolutely loving university. Joining this club was by far the best decision I made in first year. AAW connected me with so many amiable students who allowed me to openly express myself and support my creative thoughts. I feel so lucky to be given the chance to interact with Autism families in the London community and work along side a dedicated team all striving for the same goal. I am really eager to see what this year offers and what new minds we can bring on board in our efforts to make a more aware and accepting Western community.

I’m a third year international student from Bermuda, currently enrolled in the HBA program. My interest in neuro diversity and inclusion stems from a high school volunteering experience which allowed me to interact with various children on the spectrum at weekend playgroups. I discovered Autism Awareness Western in first year and was determined to join. It’s now my third year with what I consider the most impactful club on campus and the experience has been immensely rewarding.
